These bold, provocative and poignant films for Unicef UK encourage people to sign a petition calling on the Home Secretary to urgently fix the refugee family reunion law. Directed by Archer’s Mark director William Williamson, the films feature a cast of real refugees in the place of professional actors.
We spoke to the creatives Gerard Roda & Vivien Decombe and asked them what it was about William Willamson’s work that made them pick him.
“When we were looking at director options, Will’s reel stood out for its great balance. Some pieces felt very warm and humane, whilst other bits of work were visually bold and edgy – and that’s the exact balance we wanted to strike on this project.
“During the whole process, Will’s been a pleasure to work with; he’s been highly collaborative and approachable, not just with us but also with the refugees involved. We knew it could be a challenging project for them, but Will managed to make them always comfortable and get the best out of them, which resulted in a truly amazing experience for everyone involved.”
